About Feeding America

Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Their mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.

Each year, the Feeding America network provides food to more than 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.

Our network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, securing and distributing more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually. Those member food banks support approximately 61,000 local charitable agencies and 70,000 programs, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need.

The Community Monthly Distribution is part of Feeding America and Middle Georgia Community Food Bank in Macon, Georgia who are members of Feeding America.  The Food at the Community Distribution is furnished by Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

Middle Georgia Community Food Bank stopped the delivery of Food For distribution to Mobile Pantry Jones County ( located at First Baptist Church of Gray) at the end of March 2021.  The distribution at First Baptist was combined with the current Monthly Community Distribution remaining in place in Jones County. The location is Greater Jordan Chapel in Haddock, GA located at 1415 GA Hwy 22.

If you previously picked up food at First Baptist Church of Gray you can go to the Monthly Community Distribution still in place in Jones County in Haddock at the Greater Jordan AME Chapel and receive food. The distribution is the fourth Wednesday of each month.

In September 2008, America’s Second Harvest changed its name to Feeding America. This new name best conveys our mission—providing food to Americans living with hunger—and will be supported through expansive public outreach campaigns and our member food bank network in order to raise awareness about domestic hunger and our work.

Despite a 30-year legacy of fighting hunger, America’s Second Harvest has been confronted with low awareness among the general public, and a broader misunderstanding of domestic hunger. Knowing that true, monumental progress can be made when the public is fully engaged in our cause, we have researched how we can best inspire people. We found that the name America’s Second Harvest was limiting and that a new name was needed to quickly and clearly convey our mission.

Our new name, Feeding America, directly conveys that we are providing access to food for people who need it.  It also communicates the positive power of food to be a catalyst in people’s lives.  In essence, “feeding” serves as a double meaning—both providing food and enriching lives. We look forward to continuing our mission and would like to thank all our constituents who support us.
